Jelly Roll Quilt: Sprinkles on Top from Quiltmanufaktur

Dreaming of Daylilies - Ambassador's Choice from Sew Preeti Quilts

March is Ambassador's Choice.

March brings a free month for you to determine your own project of any size, using any theme and any technique!! This is an opportunity for you to express your creativity without guidelines. Have fun!

Here is my response.

Dreaming of Daylilies

Designed in EQ8, and made with Poetic Bouquet collection, it is a combination of Irish Chain blocks and appliqued Daisy blocks.

This is a lovely collection with beautiful gradations in purples and aquas.  I wanted to show off these value gradations in the design.

Fuzzy Offenders from Podunk Pretties

Hello Quilty Friends!  The Flea Market Jelly Roll Strips are all cut, de-pinked ready for action.

Trimming off the pinked edges was a little more tedious than expected.  And OH MY WHAT A MESS it made. A pretty little mess, don't you think?  Am I the only one that admires the bits of scraps in their trash can?

After tossing the cute little visible scraps in the trash it was time to tackle the invisible scraps.  It's shocking how much lint couldn't be seen but would've shown up on the white background fabric.  A quick rolling ...

Starting A Jelly Roll Quilt from Podunk Pretties

There's a quilt partially quilted quilt on the frame and a quilt top almost finished on the ironing station.  Why not start another quilt? HAHA! Yep, this is how I roll.  The other two quilts have been UFO's for years so what's a few more days or weeks?

This Lori Holt Flea Market jelly roll was pulled a few weeks ago during a fabric organizing session.  It was purchased at our local quilt shop a years ago.   These smaller precuts are cute but they take up much needed fabric storage space.  I vowed to never buy another ...

Scraps from twiddletails

One of my 2024 goals is to significantly reduce all my scraps. What do you classify as "scraps"?

Over here, anything that is too small to fold and put away is a scrap. I also don't save very small pieces of fabric.  I have friends who will gladly adopt these.

My first step was to take ALL the scraps and cut them into 2.5" wide jelly roll strips. I was AMAZED at how many strips I ended up with! I then sorted them by color because I am not a "just grab one" kind of girl. "Intentional scrappy-ness ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

What do you know - - - it's Friday again!  And we all know what that means - it's time for us to all get our whoop whoop on.  Are you ready?  Let's go!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

It's been a busy week around my studio this week, and my quilt math brain has been stretched to its limit - but I have a finished t-shirt quilt top to show off!

It's been a while since I made one of these, and because I made some adjustments to block sizes as I went to fill in empty spots, I ended up needing ...

I am published! from Sew Preeti Quilts

No, this isn't the first time, but I still feel giddy every time I see my name in print, even if it is digital.

Kashvi was published in Make Modern #55

Kashvi, 60" by 80"

It is a jelly-roll pattern made using Island Batik collection Vintage Charm.

It is a lovely floral collection - airy, delicate and bright. Start this quilt now and you will be celebrating Spring in style.

Instead of choosing a white/black or gray background, I chose the Island Batik Solid - Cobalt Blue.  Isn't it refreshing?

Red Jelly Roll Kit Quilt from Wedding Dress Blue

The kit and pattern came from the crazy quilter garage sale I found a while back. While it isn’t my typical style, it seemed a good challenge (and a great bargain at $10).

I immediately remembered why I don’t do a lot of these style blocks: BIAS EDGES. They are what they are and require special care and attention.

A skill I need to improve on it pressing. It is so important to success in these patterns.

That said, it is a finished product and worthy to be gifted (if the right person comes along) or donated at ...

September Stashbuster Challenge from Patchwork Sampler Blog

Here it is October 5 and I am just now posting about the September Stashbuster Challenge. As a reminder, the challenge was to use a jelly roll or 2-1/2″ strips from your stash. I set this challenge because I really, really wanted to finish the Savannah Squares quilt. It is a UFO from over 18 months ago and I am ready to be done with it. These are such pretty fabrics (Moda’s Nantucket Summer by Camille Roskelley) and I like the pattern, but it has been a struggle to finish this. This is a free pattern from Moda ...

Jelly Roll Christmas from Wedding Dress Blue

Not sure where the Christmas jelly roll came from, but it made for a relatively quick quilt when cut into squares and matched with alternating background squares.

I typically choose bolder colors and more fabric variety–this particular jelly roll had only about 15 different fabrics in it.

That said, I like the unexpected black accents. Maybe a more sophisticated look?

And I love me a finish!

September Challenge: Jelly Roll Quilts from Patchwork Sampler Blog

September Challenge

Do you have a collection of 2-1/2″ strips? Is there a jelly roll in your stash that is ready to be turned into a quilt? Do you have scraps that you can cut into 2-1/2″ strips? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are ready for the September Challenge. All you have to do is make a quilt from jelly roll strips.

Personally, I love 2-1/2″ strips because of their versatility. You can cut so many shapes from them and create so many different patterns. There are dozens of books and hundreds ...

Positivity 2023 - Flower Block Tutorial from Sew Preeti Quilts

This Flower Block will finish at 12" (width) by 10" (height).  It is the exact same dimension as the Leaf Block. I had made an audition/trial block earlier. Based on that experience, I updated the method, which I am sharing in the tutorial.

Flower + Leaf = Audition Block

These directions show how to make the Flower Block using 2.5" strips. You may use scraps (that can be used to cut the pieces shown under Fabric Requirements).

A Patriotic Finish from Patchwork Sampler Blog

This red, white, and blue quilt is another project from “the basket” I have been clearing out this month. It is just a coincidence that it is a holiday quilt that qualified for the May challenge. This project was abandoned who knows how long ago with only quilting the borders and binding left to finish. That didn’t take long and now I have a patriotic quilt to display for the summer.

I don’t know the name of this pattern, and a Google search did not turn up anything. I thought it was from one of Kim Brackett’s ...

Friday Finish: Three Projects from Patchwork Sampler Blog

For this Friday Finish I have three projects to share with you!

Number 1: Origins

This is the finished quilt from the quilt along I started in January. The pattern is from Lifting Limits Quilting and is available here. I like the quilt because the construction is super simple and these were fun fabrics. The spring-like colors cheered me up over the winter. It is a very easy pattern with unique piecing instructions. Hint: when the directions say “label the strip sets,” then be sure to label the strip sets. You will NOT remember which is which. Ask me how ...

Plus a Nine Patch Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Today I'm sharing another jelly roll quilt. I'm tickled to be making a dent in these and finally finishing  some quilts that have been UFOs for a while. I saw a picture online for this quilt called Egg Hunt, from the Fat Quarter Shop. It was just a picture and searching for it now, the only reference I am able to find is a post that leads to Facebook for a kit that is no longer available. I had

Spring House Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

This quilt is from an old Moda Bakeshop tutorial called Sweet Menagerie. I've been on a mission to use up old jelly rolls and I thought this would be a good way to showcase these. I used a jelly roll called Spring House that I bought on sale back in 2013. I finished piecing this in March 2021. Blogs are good for record keeping.
